DRY RATION DISTRIBUTION TO MATHRUABHAYA FOUNDATION - ORPHANAGE

The second wave has been devastating, intensifying the suffering of people around. SSM, Hyderabad, in its endeavour to alleviate this overwhelming distress to the extent possible, has been responding to information and requests being received from various quarters for relief by way of donations and supplies.

The following are the two organizations which have received our assistance:

Mathruabhaya Foundation - located in Kamala Nagar, Medipalli, Hyderabad.

http://www.mathruabhayafoundation.org

This is an orphanage with 50 children - 28 boys and 22 girls - in the age group of 6 to 16 years.

The current situation has affected them adversely and they are in dire need of food. They had reached out to one of our team members.

The SSM team at Hyderabad helped in procuring dry rations - Rice, dal, sugar, salt, oil, chillies and other toiletries for the children for more than 2 weeks.

DONATION OF DRY RATIONS TO COVID AFFECTED ORPHANAGE AND WOMEN'S SHELTER - SPERDS

This organization - Sri Padmavathi Educational Rural Development Society - located in Medak, Telangana, (SPERDS) is dedicated to empowering women by taking care of orphan girls and destitute women. At present it houses 32 such women and girls - 16 girls ( aged between 13 to 18) and 16 women. The institution, under the care of Smt. Sujata Majety, ensures that the girls are provided with an education and vocational skills until they turn 19. After this, efforts are made to settle them into a secure and stable life and also to get them married. So far they have been successful in doing this for a number of girls.

At present, more than 20 of the inmates are down with Covid. They are struggling for funds due to the additional costs of their treatment and medication. Provision for their daily requirement of food also seems difficult to come by. Since their cook (who is one of the inmates) is down with Covid as well, they are getting food delivered to them at the moment and consequently, the expenses have gone up.

The money donated by the team at SSM Hyderabad helped them to source the food they need on a daily basis and will also be used to purchase the provisions to cook for the inmates (after the recovery of the cook).
