Kerala focuses on literacy and awareness as part of the outreach.
Serving communities touched by the Walk Of Hope
On 21st April, a team of The Satsang Foundation volunteers visited Pullikada colony, Chinnakada, in Kollam and distributed about 125 Grocery Kits to the residents there.
These are people badly affected by the current lockdown.
On request from a local ward member of Eeyakod near Trivandrum, a medical doctor and a team of volunteers visited the village to conduct an awareness campaign and also distribute provisions.. This is the place where we, Kerala Kendra volunteers conduct regular medical camps.
A doctor, handling the Corona Care Unit at Government Medical College, Trivandrum was on the team and we were indeed happy to have him as the leader.
The Doctor and the team demonstrated and provided guidance to the local residents on social distancing, hand washing, and other preventive aspects.
We also distributed provision kits for daily use to 66 families with cooking oil, green gram, bengal gram, chillies, coriander powder, etc.
A member from each family received the kit after a proper hand wash while only one person was allowed at a time to collect it.
The administration worked hand in hand with us. The ward member, the village officer and assistant accompanied us though it is a holiday for them. Travel passes were enabled by the IAS office in charge along with the Tahsildar.
