Govardhan Puja at The Sacred Grove Gaushala, Chowdepalle
The essence of the Govardhan Pooja lies in the construction of a miniature replica of the Govardhan Mountain primarily using cow dung, adorned with vibrant flowers and embellishments. The mountain is then worshiped with offerings of water, incense, fruits, and other delectable prasad, invoking blessings and prosperity for all.
It also includes the veneration of cows which symbolises the worship of Goddess Lakshmi, highlighting their pivotal role in sustaining life and agriculture. It also expresses gratitude to the earth that sustains us and to the Divine who protects us. This day is a reminder of humankind’s eternal bond with nature and the importance of humility, gratitude, and collective harmony.
May we honour nature, live with gratitude, and trust the divine shelter that guides us always.

It was once again time for the team TSG to come together to honour the bovine in the Goshala. Together we made garlands with marigold flowers, and tulsi leaves. Torans were prepared with mango leaves and rangolis were drawn. The little calves trotted around bedecked with colourful malas around their necks.
Jaggery and bananas were offered and were eagerly lapped up. While the Panchangs decide the days of such worship, one wonders if the cows wonder about the occasion, when a group of women will feed them worship them and joyfully put Kum kum and haldi on all, including them.
